Development Carbon Capture Plant - 1st phase

It is AEB’s ambition to capture approximately 0.5 M tonnes CO₂ from the flue gases from its plant by application of amine scrubbing and then store this in an empty gas field in the North Sea. Within AEB - activities involved in the realisation of CO₂ capture are referred to as the Aurora project. Stated succinctly - amine scrubbing is a chemical reaction that binds CO₂ and does not bind other substances. Flue gases are passed through a capture plant in which an amine solution absorbs the CO₂ and the remaining flue gases leave the plant.
